Some of the food there is really good and some is so so. It’s very reasonably priced which is perfect for university students. I tried a couple of their pizzas, chicken steak and pure apple juice. We had the Golden Fork Super Supreme pizza for 45 Yuan and the Queen Fruit Pizza for 38 Yuan. I was pleasantly surprised. The taste was fine and the size of the pizza was great value for money. The chicken steak was really tender and tasted nice. The pure apple juice which had lots of pulp was 15 Yuan each and was refreshing.

On previous occasions I have gone there and had the Mexican nachos with two dips (18 Yuan). The dips were really nice. The burgers there are pretty average.

They also serve a range of European dishes including macaroni and cheese (38 Yuan), French beef with rice (15 Yuan) and Beef and chicken steak (18 Yuan). Their pasta dishes range from 10-18 Yuan; burgers with chips range form 16-20 Yuan; salads range from 8-25 Yuan; Biriyani with Raitha ranges from 10-18 Yuan). They have tons of other dishes to try too which you’ll find on their bilingual menu (Chinese and English).

Regarding the atmosphere, I would say that it could be made to look more modern. It gives me a kind of early-eighties feel when I walk in there with their bright red table tops. One could say it’s a bit tacky. Also, if you are tall, please mind your head as you enter into the restaurant at the bottom of the stairs.

The service is nothing special but nor is it bad.

The TV plays a lot of Indian or Pakistani programs. Overall, I would say that the Golden Fork restaurant in Tianjin serves food which is good value for money, but in a tacky environment.

The toilet is a squatter and isn't exactly fragrant.
