I've had a few of Balvenie's varieties before, and they're usually pretty good, but I'd never seen the 17-year Rum cask until the other night. I had it with dessert, and the richness of the hazelnut souffle brought out the smooth sweetness in the whisky dram. I wouldn't want to drink it all night, but perfect for an apertif or to accompany dessert.
